Animal Rescue Foundation Debuts New Facility With Fundraiser

WHEATON, IL — Wheaton's Animal Rescue Foundation recently made its home in a new facility and is hosting a garage sale fundraiser to welcome the community and raise funds to support its mission to save animals.

The garage sale event won't be held in a garage, but will be held July 17 and 18 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the new facility, which is located at 531 Roosevelt Rd. The 2,600 square foot facility will be used for animal intake and supplies and will eventually house cats, A.R.F. Marketing Director Susan Vertrees told Patch.

The fundraising garage sale will feature a variety of items, both new and used, including several new toys and other items that were donated by a big box retail store, Vertrees said. The assortment includes, but is not limited to:

• Children's toys and games
• Small appliances
• Baby formula
• Protein powders and drinks
• Bedding
• Golf clubs
• A guitar
• Car supplies
• Pet supplies
• Sports memorabilia
• Cleaning supplies

All proceeds will go to the Animal Rescue Foundation. Vertrees said A.R.F. is "excited to build our presence in the community and save even more animals.”

Animal Rescue Foundation is made up of volunteers who foster cats, dogs, kittens and puppies before they are adopted out. Susan told Patch interest in fostering was so high during the initial phases of the coronavirus crisis that they couldn't meet the demand. Currently, A.R.F. volunteers are fostering 109 kittens, 27 cats, eight puppies and eight dogs.
