April WWEA Educator Spotlight
The WWEA would like to introduce Ms. Kelsey Schoppen, an educator at Monroe Middle School in D200.
The Wheaton Warrenville Education Association (WWEA) would like to introduce Ms. Kelsey Schoppen, a 3 year Language Arts and Literature educator with 2 years of teaching experience at Monroe Middle School in District 200. Ms. Schoppen has experience teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College in Secondary Education and English with a minor in History.
Despite three years of teaching experience, Ms. Schoppen still considers herself a new teacher, but believes that middle school is the right fit for her. She chose to be an educator because she loves the middle school age and wants to support students as they move through this challenging stage of life. Ms. Schoppen believes that the education profession is like no other because teachers are challenged, yet entertained by the interesting behaviors and commentary made by students. She enjoys creating engaging lessons where students utilize their creativity in the classroom. Currently, her students are creating their own Utopian societies as they read The Giver by Lois Lowry.
Thank you, Ms. Kelsey Schoppen, for joining our D200 team and becoming a WWEA member. We can’t wait to hear about the excellent lessons and engaging activities you create.
