Boo-Palooza To Bring Costume Contests, Candy To Downtown Wheaton

Children and pets alike will have a chance to show off their Halloween duds to win prizes at the annual event.

WHEATON, IL — Double, double, toil and trouble, it's that time of year when things go bump in the night and pets go crazy wearing the ridiculous costumes we dress them in. Wheaton plans to celebrate Halloween big on Oct. 26 with its annual Boo-palooza, which features trick-or-treating, of course, along with costume contests for pets and kids.

Here's a quick rundown of what the day looks like for those celebrating Halloween at Boo-Palooza from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. downtown.

The main event is naturally trick-or-treating at downtown Wheaton businesses, but kids and grownups have plenty of other opportunities for fun. The festivities include face painting and pumpkin decorating at Martin Memorial Plaza, along with spooky stories provided by Wheaton Drama.

At 10 a.m., gather for a (human) costume contest and then stick around to watch pooches strut their stuff during the pet costume contest portion of the event. At 11 a.m., there will be a live pumpkin carving demonstration.

Hayrides from Martin Memorial Plaza will be available throughout the Boo-Palooza event.
