Buzz's Girlfriend: Wheaton's All-Woman Improv Team

They will perform at the Chicago Improv Festival next week

Buzz's Girlfriend, an all-woman improv team from Wheaton, will be performing at the Chicago Improv Festival this year. The team of five women regularly performs at Westside Improv at 123 Front St. in Wheaton

Team member Sarah Kueker said the team name is from the 1990 comedy Home Alone.

"When Kevin is looking through his brother Buzz's stuff he comes across a picture of his brother's girlfriend and says 'Buzz your girlfriend Woof!' We just all love that line!" Kueker said in an email to Patch.

She said the team members saw a need for all female perspective, since there are typically less women in improv.

"Being all female helps gives us a perspective that is way different than having a coed team," Kueker said. "We are all different ages and our viewpoints coming as women at different points in our lives comes through in our comedy."

The team members are Sarah Kueker, originally from Winfield; Sophia Clinton, of Wheaton; Vikki Rood, from Rosell; Candace Snapp, from Lisle; and Kat Rybarski of Batavia.

This will be the team's second year at the Chicago Improv Festival. Kueker said the team performed at the Upright Citizens Brigade theater in New York last summer.

"Being able to create a story onstage from one simple word builds this amazing bond between us," Kueker said. "Improv builds confidence and makes you realize that nothing is as scary awesome as being onstage and knowing that you have others there to support you."
