Child, Mother Fall From 6th Floor Of Winfield Parking Garage
A 5-year-old girl and 28-year-old woman were injured in what Winfield police are calling a "suspicious incident."
WINFIELD, IL — A 5-year-old girl and her 28-year-old mother were found with "major injuries" after having fallen from the sixth floor of a Winfield hospital parking garage Tuesday in what police are calling a "suspicious incident." Police say the incident took place at Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital, 25 N. Winfield Road just after 4:30 p.m.
Both the girl and her mother were rushed to the emergency room of Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital and stabilized. The child was later transported to Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago and the woman was taken to Loyola Hospital in Chicago.
Police say there are currently no updates to the conditions of the mother and child.

Asked whether any suspects have been identified, Winfield Police Department Chief David Schar told Patch via email that such information will not be released at press time because the investigation is ongoing. Schar added that police "do not believe there is any remaining threat to the community at this time."
DuPage County's Metropolitan Emergency Response and Investigation Team (MERIT) task force is assisting the Winfield Police Department with the ongoing investigation.
