City Reminds Residents Of Yard Waste/Food Scrap Collection Dates
Make note of important dates for Lakeshore Recycling Systems' yard waste/food scrap collection and Christmas tree recycling.

WHEATON, Ill – As the year comes to an end, please make note of these important dates for Lakeshore Recycling Systems’ yard waste/food scrap collection and Christmas tree recycling.
Yard Waste/Food Scraps

December 12-16 will be the last week for yard waste/food scraps/organics collection until the spring. Each container or biodegradable bag requires a sticker. Pickup is on your normal garbage day.
Wheaton’s new garbage/recycling/yard waste program also allows you to include food scraps with your yard waste. Please note that food scrap collection will also end the week of Dec 12-16. It will resume in April.

Garbage Holidays
Due to the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, all pickups for the weeks ofDec. 26 and Jan. 2 will be one day later than usual. Lakeshore Recycling Systems will observe the holidays on Dec. 26 and Jan. 2 and will not collect garbage or recycling on these days.
Christmas Tree Recycling
You can set live Christmas trees at the curb for free recycling during the weeks of Jan. 2 and Jan. 9. During this free two-week collection period, make sure your tree is free of decorations, and do not place it in a plastic bag. After the collection period, you will need to attach 5 garbage/organic stickers per tree to have it collected.
Please note that this is a change from the dates originally announced in the December City Newsletter.
