Coronavirus Cases Count Up By 2.4 Percent In Wheaton

Since March 2020, Wheaton has seen 4,231 coronavirus cases, according to DuPage County Health Department.

WHEATON, IL — In Wheaton, the number of coronavirus cases has increased by 100 cases in the past week, according to information from the DuPage County Health Department (DCHD). These numbers are greater than the previous week, in which Wheaton saw 84 new coronavirus cases.

As of March 31, there had been 4,131 coronavirus cases reported in Wheaton. The total number of cases reported in Wheaton as of April 7 was 4,231. This reflects an overall increase of just over 2.4 percent. The previous week's increase was just over 2 percent.

DCHD recently began sharing the number of probable coronavirus cases in each municipality. Whereas the graph on DCHD's website includes probable cases, using the site's search bar yields a breakdown of probable and confirmed cases.

In Wheaton, there have been 253 probable coronavirus cases since March 2020, according to county health records. With probable cases included, the total case count for Wheaton is 4,484.

In Glen Ellyn, the number of coronavirus cases has increased by 67 cases in the past seven days.

On March 31, the village had reported 2,903 total cases of the new coronavirus. Those numbers had increased to 2,970 as of April 7, reflecting an overall increase of 2.3 percent. The previous week's increase was 1.9 percent.

In Glen Ellyn, there have been 191 probable coronavirus cases. Including probable cases, the total coronavirus case count for Glen Ellyn is at 3,161.

Glen Ellyn had no additional confirmed coronavirus-related deaths in the past week. Since March 2020, the village has seen 38 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths and one probable coronavirus death. Wheaton has had 59 confirmed deaths since the county started tracking its coronavirus numbers, DCHD data shows.

The risk of transmission in DuPage County is currently classified as "substantial."
