Coronavirus Infection Rate Stays Steady In Wheaton
Since March 2020, Wheaton has seen 4,047 coronavirus cases, according to DuPage County Health Department.
WHEATON, IL — In Wheaton, the number of coronavirus cases has increased by 51 cases in the past week, according to information from the DuPage County Health Department (DCHD). These numbers are consistent with the previous week, in which Wheaton saw 52 new coronavirus cases.
As of March 16, there had been 3,996 coronavirus cases reported in Wheaton. The total number of cases reported in Wheaton as of March 23 was 4,047. This reflects an overall increase of just under 1.3 percent. The previous week's increase was just over 1.3 percent.

In Wheaton, there have been 225 probable coronavirus cases since March 2020, according to county health records. With probable cases included, the total case count for Wheaton is 4,272.

In Glen Ellyn, the number of coronavirus cases has increased by 34 cases in the past week.
On March 16, the village had reported 2,814 total cases of the new coronavirus. Those numbers had increased to 2,848 as of March 23, reflecting an overall increase of 1.2 percent. The previous week's increase was under .9 percent.
In Glen Ellyn, there have been 174 probable coronavirus cases since March 2020. Including probable cases, the total coronavirus case count for Glen Ellyn is at 3,022.

Glen Ellyn had two additional confirmed coronavirus-related deaths in the past week. Since March 2020, the village has seen 38 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths and one probable coronavirus deaths. Wheaton has had 59 confirmed deaths since the county started tracking its coronavirus numbers, DCHD data shows.
DuPage County recently reported that more than 200,000 residents had received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine. The county also marked another milestone in late February, as its overall coronavirus positivity rate dropped to its lowest point since June 2020
The risk of transmission in DuPage County is currently classified as "substantial."
