Donate Food, Supplies At Wheaton Police's 'Stuff The Squad' Event

The goal is to fill a squad car with items to donate to People's Resource Center.

WHEATON, IL — The Wheaton Police Department is launching new drive to help gather food and other items to benefit People's Resource Center, with the goal of filling a squad car with donation items. The inaugural "Stuff the Squad" event will be held May 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Wheaton Police Department, 900 W. Liberty Dr.

“The Wheaton Police Department knows that this has been an especially difficult year, and many people are struggling to meet their basic needs due to job loss or other challenging circumstances,” Community Engagement Officer Crystal Miroballi said in a news release.

The following items are urgently needed for donation:

  • Canned green beans, corn, black beans and pork and beans
  • Canned soup
  • Canned spaghetti sauce
  • Shampoo
  • Body wash
  • Toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Spray disinfectant
  • Laundry detergent
  • Size 6 or 7 children's diapers
  • Adult diapers

Patch has partnered with Feeding America to help raise awareness on behalf of the millions of Americans facing hunger. Feeding America, which supports 200 food banks across the country, estimates that in 2020, more than 50 million Americans will not have enough nutritious food to eat due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
