DuPage County Tops 87K Coronavirus Cases: IDPH

In total, there have been 87,807 coronavirus cases and 1,257 deaths in DuPage County as of Sunday, according to IDPH.

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — DuPage County has seen 1,420 new coronavirus cases and 7 coronavirus-related deaths in the past week, according to Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). In total, there have been 87,807 coronavirus cases and 1,257 deaths in DuPage County as of Sunday, IDPH reports.

The news comes as total cases in Illinois reach 1,320,133. The statewide death toll from coronavirus was at 21,826 as of Sunday and the recovery rate was 98 percent, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

DuPage County's system of reporting shows confirmed coronavirus cases in age groups from 0 through 9 years old to 80 and older. It also includes a breakdown of cases by municipality.

According to the county's breakdown, the majority of cases have affected those between the ages of 40 and 70, but all age ranges had confirmed cases. In recent weeks, there has been an uptick in cases among residents who are 20-29 years old.

The risk of coronavirus transmission in DuPage County is currently classified as "substantial."
