Early Morning Road Closures Expected In Wheaton Saturday

WHEATON, IL — Several roads in Wheaton will be closed temporarily the morning of June 5 to accommodate Wheaton Park District's Run for the Animals 5K/10K race.

The race begins at 7 a.m. and road closures are expected to be in effect until 10 a.m., with police officers on hand to help direct the flow of traffic. The following roads will be closed, according to an update from the City of Wheaton:

  • Main Street from Seminary to Wakeman Avenue
  • Seminary from Main Street to Howard
  • University Place from Howard Street to Webster Avenue
  • Webster Avenue from University Place to North Path
  • North Path from Cherry Street to Webster Avenue
  • Cherry Street from Harrison Avenue to North Path
  • Harrison Avenue from Howard Street to Cherry Street
  • Howard Street from Harrison Avenue to Forest Aveue
  • Forest Avenue from Howard Street to Webster Avenue
  • Webster Avenue from Forest Avenue to Cadillac Drive
  • Wakeman Drive from Main Street to Santa Rosa Avenue
  • Cadillac Drive from Santa Rosa to Webster Avenue
  • Santa Rosa Avenue from Cadillac to Wakeman Drive

City officials advise that the road closures may result in traffic delays, so drivers may want to choose an alternative route.
