Rising Streams In DuPage County Trigger Floodwater Control
DuPage County received over five inches of rainfall, with even more expected on Thursday.

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL -- After DuPage County storms and heavy rain battered DuPage County, flooding streams triggered stormwater management's emergency flood control machines. Officials from DuPage County Stormwater Management say they are monitoring rainfall totals, which have exceeded five inches in some parts of the county and are expected to increase Thursday.
The heavy rainfall activated multiple large flood control facilities that function mechanically to stem the rising waters, officials said. In addition to these larger facilities, some smaller flood control facilities that are operated by gravity.
The DuPage County Stormater's 16 flood control facilities can hold nearly 6 billion gallons of water in total.

Stormwater management officials say they will continue to monitor flood levels and flood control. They advise residents to be aware of potential flash flooding as rainfalls continue.
