Fall Trout Season Canceled In DuPage County Amid Pandemic
The forest preserve district will not stock its three trout lakes this year, officials said.
DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — Fall trout season has been canceled by the DuPage County Forest Preserve District. The district, which typically stocks three lakes with trout each fall, will not be stocking the lakes due to the ongoing new coronavirus pandemic.
The three lakes that are usually stocked are Silver Lake at Blackwell Forest Preserve, Pickerel Lake at Pratt’s Wayne Woods, and Grove Lake at Wood Dale Grove. The fall trout opener had been set for Oct. 17.
“Due to concerns about appropriate social distancing related to parking, fishing and general preserve use, the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County has decided to cancel the fall trout opener at our three forest preserve trout lakes," DuPage County Forest Preserve District Community Relations Director Tony Martinez said in a news release announcing the cancellation.
