Recounts Don't Change Election Outcomes In DuPage County
"I am confident of the results of the recounts, just as I am confident of the results that were certified last month," Kaczmarek said.

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — The DuPage County Clerk's Office recently conducted discovery recounts in four races from November's election. The discovery recount petitions were submitted by Jim Oberweis for the U.S. 14th Congressional District, Jeanette Ward for the Illinois 25th Senate District, Bob Grogan for Office of DuPage County Auditor and Tim Whelan for DuPage County Forest Preserve Commission District 4.
Out of 930 precincts in DuPage County, a total of 286 precincts were recounted. This is in addition to a state-mandated recount of 47 precincts, which found no changes, according to a news release.
“I am confident of the results of the recounts, just as I am confident of the results that were certified last month,” DuPage County Clerk Jean Kaczmarek said in the news release.

The discovery recounts began Dec. 7 and were conducted with Democratic and Republican election judges over a nine-day period. Candidates were charged $10 per precinct for the discovery recounts, which is estimated to have cost DuPage County more than $100,000.
“I thank all the election judges who served on these recounts especially during a pandemic,” Kaczmarek said. “I’m proud of my staff who worked to fulfill all the recounts, after completing an exhausting 2020 election cycle overlapping into the 2021 consolidated election.”
