Memorial Service Will Honor Wheaton Woman Who Died Of Malaria

Meghan Liddy, 25, died from complications of malaria while living in Ghana to help children.

WHEATON, IL --- A memorial service has been planned to celebrate the life of a Wheaton woman who tragically lost her battle with complications from malaria on Nov. 2. Meghan Liddy, 25, had lived in Ghana for five years before her death and was in the process of working to adopt two young girls whom she had been fostering when she contracted malaria.

In a post on GoFundMe, Liddy's family writes that she and the girls were caring for a baby named Kofi who preceded Liddy in death on Oct. 30, a day before she posted on Facebook to open up about her battle with malaria.

Liddy, a Wheaton-Warrenville South alumnus, co-founded a non-profit in Ghana called Family First Ghana, which aids families with children who have disabilities and other medical issues.
