Over 10% Of DuPage County Fully Vaccinated Against Coronavirus
Additionally, more than 200,000 DuPage County residents have received their first doses of the coronavirus vaccine.
DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — More than 10 percent of DuPage County's residents have been fully vaccinated against coronavirus, according to a recent update from DuPage County Health Department (DCHD). As of March 10, 94,053 DuPage County residents had received both doses of the coronavirus vaccination, DCHD reports.
As of Tuesday, 200,000 DuPage County residents had been given at least their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.
These milestones were reached despite a "relatively low volume of vaccine coming to DCHD and [its] provider network," DCHD Executive Director Karen Ayala said in a March 10 update. DCHD reports that the county has received an average of 11,875 first doses a week for the past four weeks.

This week, DuPage County expects 17,470 first doses. Those numbers are expected to fall dramatically the week of March 29, when the county anticipates receiving roughly 5,850 first doses.
“Unfortunately, the vaccine supply we receive from the state each week remains unstable. This uncertainty makes our vaccine planning and distribution incredibly challenging. We understand the importance of getting this vaccine into the arms of our residents as quickly and efficiently as possible, but it becomes difficult when the supply allocated to us is severely limited," Ayala said in a March 16 update.

DCHD cited an ongoing low vaccine supply in late February, when it declined to expand its vaccination eligibility to include residents ages 16 to 64 years old with high-risk medical conditions and disabilities.
DuPage County health officials have said they will look into expanding the vaccine availability when their vaccine supply increases "significantly," when the majority of people in the current phase of the vaccine rollout have been vaccinated or when demand for the current phase decreases.
