Rep. Grant tours Wheaton sites for residents with disabilities
UCP Seguin shows new day center and group home to Wheaton lawmaker
State Rep. Amy Grant got to see the positive results of government investment in the UCP Seguin of Greater Chicago Tuesday afternoon in Wheaton.
Grant got personal tours of a UCP Seguin Community Day Services site on Carlton Avenue and a nearby Community Integrated Living group home and met some of the many clients benefiting from great programs provided by caring staff.
Client Samantha Roldan showed the lawmaker where she and her peers created artwork, gardened herbs, got exercise and learned cooking skills in the recently reopened day center. Later, Scott showed off his cozy, well cared for CILA group home nearby where he lives with three other clients.

“I feel so lucky to live and serve where our communities do so much to help our residents,” Rep. Grant. “I’m grateful to be a part of helping make UCP Seguin’s programs and facilities a reality.”
Community Block Grants contributed roughly $400,000 toward the recent $1.2 million purchase and remodeling of the day services facility in Wheaton and another roughly $300,000 in grant money helped fund the purchase of the nearby group home, which is one of 70 throughout the western suburbs.

“You deserve accolades, Representative Grant,” UCP Seguin CEO John Voit said. “In my 50 years working in this field, this has been the most productive state budget in terms of disability services.”
