Taste Of Wheaton Canceled For 2nd Year In A Row
Officials hope the festival will resume in 2022, but note that the related carnival will not return until 2023.

WHEATON, IL — The Taste of Wheaton has been canceled for the second consecutive year due to limitations imposed by the coronavirus pandemic and ongoing construction for the downtown streetscape project.
Wheaton Park District officials announced the "extremely difficult decision" in a letter Wednesday morning. The announcement explained that the festival's carnival, which helps fund the Taste of Wheaton, would be nixed in 2021 and 2022 as construction is planned to continue on Liberty Street.
The announcement also cited current event capacity limitations related to coronavirus. As of mid-April, Memorial Park's capacity is limited to 25 percent, officials said. Taste of Wheaton would face additional limitations with its food options, children's games and other activities, the announcement explained.

The Memorial Park Summer Entertainment series is expected to resume in June with capacity limits in place. Festival organizers are hoping Taste of Wheaton can resume in 2022, but note that the festival's return may be dependent on the status of the related carnival.
