Illegal Use of Handgun, Cell Phone Theft: Police Blotter

TUESDAY, APRIL 30
Cell Phone Theft
Someone stole a woman's $200 cell phone from her unattended backpack hanging by a restroom on the 400 block of North Chase. The incident occurred between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., according to a police report.
MONDAY, APRIL 29
Mountain Bike Theft
Someone took a girl's $100 mountain bike from a bicycle rack on school grounds on the 200 block of East Franklin. The incident occurred between 1 p.m. April 27 and 3 p.m. April 29. A $25 bicycle cable with attached lock was also taken, police said.

Unlawful Use of Weapon
Police charged Dustin Gregory Allen, 28, of the 9800 block of West 83rd Terrace, Overland Park, Kan., with unlawful use of a weapon and disorderly conduct. Allen was arrested at 8:22 a.m. on the 1900 block of Greensboro and he was armed with a handgun, according to a police report. He was booked and released from the Wheaton Police Department that afternoon.

Warrant for False Police Report
Police served Kimberly C. Witmer, 39, of the 1300 block of Woodcutter Lane, Wheaton, with an arrest warrant for attempting to file a false police report. Witmer was arrested at 11:12 a.m. at the Wheaton Police Department. She was booked and released from the station that afternoon.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 24
Broken Window
A man first heard a loud bang by his house on the 300 block of East Jefferson Avenue at about 7 p.m. April 22. He looked around but could not find anything. On April 24 he noticed the outer pane of his bathroom window was broken, but not the inner pane or the outside screen. Small pieces of broken brick were found outside beneath the bathroom window that the man did not remember being there before. The brick might have been used to break the window, according to a police report.
