Wheaton Braces For Flooding, Warns Drivers To Avoid Flooded Roads

WHEATON, IL — The city of Wheaton warned drivers to avoid flooded roads Sunday as heavy rains continued throughout the weekend. According to a post on Facebook, Wheaton has already recorded seven inches of rainfall since Thursday.

Those numbers were set to increase amid a flood warning from that National Weather Service that remained in effect until 10:30 p.m.

City officials wrote that the public works department is working to respond to reports of flooding. As of 7:30 p.m., the DuPage County and Wheaton Sanitary District's flood water operations were at maximum capacity.

Drivers were advised not to drive down flooded roads. Those who need assistance should call the City of Wheaton's emergency storm desk at 630-260-2121.
