Wheaton Coronavirus Update: City Sees Spike In New Cases

Since March 2020, Wheaton has seen 4,131 coronavirus cases, according to DuPage County Health Department.

WHEATON, IL — In Wheaton, the number of coronavirus cases has increased by 84 cases in the past eight days, according to information from the DuPage County Health Department (DCHD). These numbers are greater than the previous week, in which Wheaton saw 51 new coronavirus cases.

As of March 23, there had been 4,047 coronavirus cases reported in Wheaton. The total number of cases reported in Wheaton as of March 31 was 4,131. This reflects an overall increase of just over 2 percent. The previous week's increase was just under 1.3 percent.

DCHD recently began sharing the number of probable coronavirus cases in each municipality. Whereas the graph on DCHD's website includes probable cases, using the site's search bar yields a breakdown of probable and confirmed cases.

In Wheaton, there have been 241 probable coronavirus cases since March 2020, according to county health records. With probable cases included, the total case count for Wheaton is 4,372.

In Glen Ellyn, the number of coronavirus cases has increased by 55 cases in the past eight days.

On March 23, the village had reported 2,848 total cases of the new coronavirus. Those numbers had increased to 2,903 as of March 31, reflecting an overall increase of 1.9 percent. The previous week's increase was 1.2 percent.

In Glen Ellyn, there have been 181 probable coronavirus cases. Including probable cases, the total coronavirus case count for Glen Ellyn is at 3,084.

Wheaton has had 59 confirmed deaths since the county started tracking its coronavirus numbers, DCHD data shows.

The risk of transmission in DuPage County is currently classified as "substantial."
