WHEATON, IL — Wheaton firefighters battled a garage fire in the 500 block of West Childs Street Tuesday. The fire broke out just before 9:30 p.m.

When fire crews got to the scene, they found "extensive fire" in the back of the garage, according to an update from city officials. Firefighters were able to control the blaze within minutes.

No one was injured and no damage was done to any other buildings, but the garage was badly damaged. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but officials say it did not appear to be suspicious.
