Winfield Cyclist Hit By Car, In Serious Condition

Police say the cyclist was hit near where Jewell and Pleasant Hill Roads intersect.

WINFIELD, IL -- A Winfield man is in serious condition after he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle early Friday. The crash took place near the intersection of Jewell and Pleasant Hill Roads, according to police.

Police say a 67-year-old Winfield man driving a 2009 Honda Fit crashed into the cyclist, identified as Nathan Troia, just after 6:30 a.m. Troia was taken to a nearby hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries.

The crash investigation is being handled by the Winfield Police Department and DuPage County's MERIT Accident Reconstruction Team.
