100-Year-Old Woman Reports Car Stolen By Caretaker: Blotter
Incidents and arrests from the Wilmette Police Department blotter from Nov. 13 to Nov. 21

WILMETTE, IL — The following information comes from the Wilmette Police Department as a record of police activity and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent merely accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of Courts. Anyone named below is innocent unless their guilt is established beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
INCIDENTS
CAR BURGLARY
Someone got into an unlocked car parked in the 400 block of Gregory Avenue during the overnight hours of Nov. 11 to Nov. 12 and stole the vehicle's key fob and a wallet containing IDs, credit cards and cash.
POSSIBLE IDENTITY THEFT
A Sheridan Road resident reported on Nov. 13 that they had gotten several phone called from people purporting to be calling on behalf of Medicare and claiming they needed to update the resident's personal information. The resident initially provided information but later grew suspicious. Medicare representatives said they do not place phone calls to conduct their business.

STOLEN BIKES AT MIDDLE SCHOOL
- Unlocked bike were stolen from the rack at Wilmette Junior High sometime between 7 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. on Nov. 12 and between 8:20 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. on Nov. 13.
- A juvenile Wilmette resident was arrested on Nov. 14 after he was witnessed stealing a bike from the school. He was processed at the Wilmette Police Department and released to a guardian.
SHOPLIFTING
The manager of a liquor store in the 200 block of Green Bay Road reported shortly before 8 p.m. on Nov. 13 that three men and two women had stolen two bottles of liquor from the store.

HOME BURGLARY
A resident in the 500 block of Leamington Avenue reported that someone broke in through a door and burglarized their home between 5 and 9 p.m. on Nov. 14, stealing electronics and cash.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone keyed a vehicle parked at an office in the 3600 block, scratching the car all along its passenger side.
GARAGE BURGLARY
A resident of the 100 block of Woodbine Avenue reported on Nov. 16 they they discovered security footage of three unidentified men or boys entering the resident's garage during overnight hours. The resident's vehicles were locked inside the garage and nothing was reported stolen.
TRAILER BURGLARY
A resident in the 1000 block of Greenleaf Avenue reported that someone had gotten into an unlocked trailer around 2:10 p.m. and stole a leaf blower, chainsaw and a weed trimmer worth about $1,250 combined.
THEFT
Staff at the Starbucks at 3520 Lake Ave. reported around Nov. 13 that someone stole the store's tip jar.
COMPUTER SCAM
A Washington Avenue resident reported on Nov. 19 that they had been scammed out of more than $100,000 by a person who first contacted them on Oct. 15 purporting to be from "IT support." The caller managed to gain remote access to the residents computer and was able to make several wire transfers in order to "pay for software."
DEFACEMENT
A CTA employee reported that someone had spray painted a train car at the Linden station between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 20.
ARRESTS
Anna F. Mohammed, 58, of the 6400 block of North Artesian Avenue, was arrested on Nov. 15 and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle. The previous morning, a 100-year-old Wilmette woman reported that Mohammed, her caretaker, had stolen a 2014 Chevy Cruze. Mohammed admitted taking the car without permission after detectives found her and the car in Chicago.
