Armed Robber Shoots At Officers In Wilmette, 3 Arrested: Police
Authorities said a man and two boys were taken into custody after crashing a stolen car while fleeing police on Sheridan Road.

WILMETTE, IL — One man and two boys are in custody awaiting charges in connection with an armed robbery, brief police pursuit and shooting Tuesday in Wilmette, police said.
Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Central Avenue around 5:15 a.m. for a report that a 63-year-old had been robbed at gunpoint by two people, who fled in a getaway car driven by a third robber, police said.
The victim provided police with a description of the trio and the vehicle — which turned out to have been stolen from Winnetka on Sunday — and Wilmette officers tried to pull them over a few minutes later near 10th Street and Central Avenue, according to police.

Police said the driver of the stolen car fled north on 10th Street for nearly a mile but crashed as they approached the lake, rolling off the road into the parking lot at the condominium building at 1630 Sheridan Road.
As officers walked up to the car, one of the people inside fired a gun through the windshield in their direction, according to police. Wilmette police did not return fire, but pulled back and awaited more officers.

Officers from Kenilworth and Winnetka arrived and police approached the vehicle again. This time, they were able to take the trio into custody without a shot being fired, according to police.

One of the three was taken to an area hospital for treatment for injuries he suffered during the crash, which were not considered to be life-threatening, police said.
Police reported they found two handguns and items had been stolen in the armed robbery inside the car.
No charges have yet been filed and the investigation has yet to be completed, police said.
If the felony review unit of the Cook County State's Attorney's Office approves charges for the adult arrestee, he will appear in court in Skokie, while the two minors are likely to be petitioned delinquent in juvenile court.
