Avoca School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Avoca is August 30 for grades 1-8, August 31 for kindergarten and September 5 for preschool. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Avoca School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

• 8/29: Teacher Contract Day
• 8/30: First Day of School for Grades 1-8
• 8/31: First Day of School for Kindergarten, Kindergarten Partial Day

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)
• 9/5: First Day of School for Preschool
• 9/21: No School (Rosh Hashanah)

October

• 10/9: No School (Columbus Day)
• 10/25: Half Day for Students (Parent/Teacher Conferences)
• 10/26: Half Day for Students (Parent/Teacher Conferences)
• 10/27: No School for Students (Teacher Institute Day)

November

• 11/20: No School for Students (Teacher Contract Day)
• 11/21: No School for Students (Teacher Institute Day)
• 11/22 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving)

December

• 12/25 - 1/5: No School (Winter Break)

January
