Best Burger In Wilmette Area: Hackney's On Harms Is Reader's Pick

WILMETTE, IL — Last week, we asked Wilmette-Kenilworth Patch readers to share their recommendations for the best burgers in the area, and the results are in.

One spot, located just outside Wilmette village limits, emerged as the clear reader's favorite, with about a quarter of the votes in our unscientific survey.

Hackney's on Harms, 1241 Harms Road, Glenview, won praise from readers for its "big and juicy" burgers, "great variety" and its dark rye bread.

The Masterton family founded the restaurant in 1939 after it began as a spot for burgers and beer on the back porch of the Hackney family home during prohibition.

Since then, its Famous Hackneyburger has "been named 'Best Burger' so many times, one magazine said they were retiring the award," according to its website.
