One spot emerged as the clear favorite among readers in our survey of the best local pizza joints.

WILMETTE, IL — The results are in from our survey of Wilmette-Kenilworth Patch readers for their choice of the best pizza in town.
Favored by more than a third of respondents, one pizza joint emerged as the clear favorite — Lefty's Pizza Kitchen.
Owner John Munao opened Lefty's at 1156 Central Ave. in Wilmette in the summer of 2018 after selling his stake of Burt's Place and developing a recipe from the one passed down by the late Burt Katz.

In survey responses, Patch readers praised Lefty's authentic North Side-style thin crust.
"Classic Chicago-style thin crust, just the right amount of caramelization, great sweetish sauce and well-executed toppings," said one reader, a fan of thin crust with sausage, spinach and giardiniera.

In addition to the Wilmette location, Lefty's Pizza Kitchen has opened up a location in the Port Clinton Square shopping center at 600 Central Ave. in Highland Park.
