Edens Plaza Carson's Space Could House Pediatric Care Center
Part of the mall occupied by the bankrupt retailer become the location of Advocate and NorthShore's first joint health care venture.

WILMETTE, IL — A pediatric care center could be open next fall in Edens Plaza inside a portion of the space currently housing Carson's, Pioneer Press reported. The joint $28.6 million project from Advocate Health Care and NorthShore University HealthSystem would see a new clinic established with dozens of doctors and up to 100 support staff on site, village and hospital staff told Wilmette Life.
The proposed Advocate NorthShore Pediatric Partners Medical Clinics Building would not be located in department store's main showroom, according to Pioneer Press. Instead, it would occupy a two-story building that was formerly used for the Carson's furniture gallery, village officials said.
The two health care systems, which called off plans to merge last year, announced a partnership on pediatric projects in May. Company officials told Pioneer Press the new outpatient facility would be a major step forward in the partnership.

The project will be reviewed by the Wilmette Zoning Board of Appeals next month and could go before the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board in October, Wilmette Life reported. If approved, the new facility could be open within a year.
