WILMETTE, IL — As school and public health officials continue to refine coronavirus safety guidelines for youth sports, the Illinois High School Association announced this year's varsity football schedule for teams across the state.

Loyola Academy is set to begin its season on Aug. 28 with an away game in Milwaukee against Marquette University. Led by coach John Holecek, the Ramblers finished last season with an 8-4 record and reached the quarterfinals of the IHSA Class 8A playoffs, where they were defeated by fellow Chicago Catholic League members Marist High School.

Things are expected to look different under Friday night lights this fall, as the Illinois Department of Public Health aims to gradually lift restrictions on contact in time for high school sports at the start of the 2020-21 school year. But it's up to local school districts to determine how to implement the new safety guidelines.
