Village Of Wilmette Public Works, Advanced Disposal Adjusting To Snow Delays

The snow storm last week resulted in significant delays in the refuse/recycling collection schedule, especially for alley customers. We apologize for this inconvenience and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Public Works crews worked through the weekend to clear alleys and the Village is working closely with Advanced Disposal to coordinate collection of all missed pick-ups, in addition to the regular collection schedule this week.

This has been challenging because a typical refuse/recycling route in Wilmette takes about 10 hours to complete. Due to Department of Transportation regulations, Advanced Disposal drivers are legally permitted to work a maximum of 11 hours per day. While this is necessary to ensure the drivers receive enough rest to safely operate the equipment, it also means that there is limited time each day to address missed collections after the day’s scheduled route has been completed.

Please be assured that Advanced Disposal is doing everything within their power to address the missed collections from last week as soon as possible. Advanced Disposal expects to get a number of these missed collections addressed on Monday and Tuesday, and all remaining missed collections addressed by the end of the day on Wednesday.
