Wilmette Couple Has Ice Rink in Backyard

A Wilmette couple has transformed their backyard into a massive ice rink.

Wilmette Life recently published a story highlighting Ellen and Eddie Dettling, who turned their Greenwood Avenue home into an ice rink that has since attracted kids to skate and adults to socialize.

“They are so wonderful,” Marilyn Urrutia, a friend of the Dellings, said. “Literally, their front door is open to everyone. People come and go, all ages, and the family is so welcoming.”

It’s become “the hub of this little village neighborhood,” another said.
