Wilmette Water and Leaf Blower Regulations in Effect
Sprinkling is prohibited through Sept. 15 and gasoline-powered leaf blowers are prohibited through Sept. 30.
Water and leaf blower regulations are currently in effect in the village of Wilmette, according to the village.
Sprinkling is prohibited on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through September 15. Gasoline-powered leaf blowers are prohibited through September 30.
Sprinkling during prohibited hours may be permitted for a limited time by the Director of Engineering, for newly seeded or sod areas, and for the annual activation or repair of sprinkler systems. To obtain special approval, call (847) 853-7660.
As for leaf blower prohibitions, it includes using an electric leaf blower powered by a portable gasoline generator. The only exceptions to this prohibition are:
- Use on golf courses, public parks or other Wilmette Park District property
- Use for roof, gutter and downspout cleaning
- Use in paving, repair or patching of public streets and alleys, or for preparation of private asphalt surfaces prior to seal coating.
