NEW TRIER TOWNSHIP, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Kenilworth, Northfield, Wilmette and Winnetka police departments as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state, and county prosecutors often choose to drop or reduce them. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless later proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

GLENCOE

INCIDENTS

CREDIT CARD FRAUD
An Elder Court resident reported on the morning of March 24 that someone had used their identity to open a credit account with Home Depot.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Spray paint was discovered on a property in the 700 block of Vernon Avenue.

SHOPLIFTING
Someone stole two bottles of Tequila from a liquor store in the first block of Green Bay Road and fled, police were told around 6:15 p.m. on March 26.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Greenleaf Avenue resident reported around on the afternoon of April 3 that someone had used their identity to open a T-Mobile account.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Mitchell Rogatz, 62, of the 100 block of Harbor Street, Glencoe, was issued citations for dog off leash, dog attack on a person and dog attack on a dog following an incident involving his dog Penny in the area of Green Bay Road and South Avenue.

Sarah Wallace, 36, of the 1100 block of Pitner Avenue, Evanston, was arrested around 1:30 a.m. on April 4 and charged with driving under the influence following a traffic stop in the 200 block of Harbor Road. Officers also issued her citations for improper lane usage, no rear license plate light and expired registration.

Gerardo Medrano-Guerrero, 54, of the first block of Shagbark Road, Lake Bluff, was arrested around 3 p.m. on April 5 in the 600 block of Greenwood Road on an active arrest warrant from Lake County stemming from a revocation of his probation following a 2018 guilty plea to driving under the influence in North Chicago.

INCIDENTS

STOLEN BIKE
An unlocked bicycle worth more than $300 was stolen after it was left at a rack on the west end of the Green Bay Road tunnel between 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on March 23.


NORTHFIELD

INCIDENTS

IRATE RESIDENT
Police were called to the 1700 block of Harding Road around 12:30 p.m. on March 24 for a report form a motorist that a resident had come out of their home and begun yelling at them. The driver did not seek to press charges.

SUSPICIOUS CAR
Police spoke to a resident of the 200 block of Dickens Road around 3 p.m. on March 25 after they reported a suspicious car had been parked in their driveway several hours earlier.

BATTERY
Police were called to an office building in the 500 block of West Frontage Road shortly before 11 a.m. on March 29 for a report of a fight between a tenant and property manager. Neither of them wanted to press charges after police arrived.

GROOMING SALON BAN
A representative of Wags on Willow, 300 S. Happ Road, reported around 3:45 p.m. on March 30 that an angry patron had caused a disturbance around 8 a.m. that day. Officers contacted the customer on behalf of the business and notified them they had been banned from the property.

SUSPICIOUS CALL
A Sunset Drive resident reported around 12:30 p.m. on March 31 that they had gotten a call from someone they did not recognize with an out-of-state phone number who asked about a business transaction of which the resident had no knowledge.

THEFT
Someone stole several landscape boulders worth about $250 each from Christian Heritage Academy, 315 Waukegan Road, around 8:30 a.m. on April 1.

THREAT
A resident in the 1700 block of Colonial Lane reported on the afternoon of April 2 that they had received a threatening letter in the mail.

UNEMPLOYMENT FRAUD

  • An Arbor Lane resident reported on the afternoon of March 26 that someone had used the identity of their late spouse to file for unemployment insurance benefits.
  • A resident of the 100 block of Landmark Street reported on the afternoon of March 26 that someone had fraudulently used their spouse's identity to file for unemployment insurance benefits.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

A 19-year-old Skokie man was arrested around 7:15 p.m. on March 28 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the 1600 block of Willow Road. Officers also issued him citations for illegal possession of open cannabis in a vehicle, disobeying a stop sign and driving an uninsured motor vehicle.

A 23-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 8 a.m. on March 29 and charged with driving without a valid license following a traffic stop in the 1600 block of Willow Road. He was also issued a citation for disobeying a stop sign.

A 27-year-old Lake in the Hills woman was arrested around 7:30 p.m. on April 1 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the are of Willow Road and Bristol Street. Officers also ticketed her for speeding 45 mph in a 30 mph zone.

INCIDENTS

UNEMPLOYMENT FRAUD
Six reports of unemployment insurance benefits fraud were reported to Wilmette police between March 19 and April 2.

STOLEN BIKE
A resident in the 200 block of Greenleaf Avenue reported on March 21 that their child's bicycle had been stolen two days earlier.

SHOPLIFTING
A store employee at the Walgreens, 811 Green Bay Road, reported on March 31 that an unidentified man had stolen unspecified items from the store at some point.

POLITICAL SIGN THEFTS

  • A resident in the 100 block of 3rd Street reported on March 23 that someone had stolen political signs from people's yards. Officers found the alleged culprit and told him to stop.
  • A resident in the 800 block of Oakwood Avenue reported on March 23 that someone had stolen political signs from people's yards. Officers found the alleged culprit and told him to stop.

STREET SIGN THEFTS

  • An officer noticed a street sign was missing in the area of Illinois Road and Birchwood Avenue on March 23.
  • On March 28, an officers noticed another sign had been stolen from Thornwood Avenue and 21st Street.

TRESPASSING

  • Police were called to Plaza Del Lago, 1515 Sheridan Road, for a report of a person sleeping in the fountain near the arcade. At the request of a shop owner, officers found the person, escorted him off the property and told him not to come back.
  • Staff at the Residence Inn, 3205 Old Glenview Road, reported an unwanted person on the business' property. Officers told the person to leave and warned him of arrest if he returned.

HARASSMENT

  • A resident in the 1200 block of Central Avenue reported on March 24 that they had been harassed by a person repeatedly called their place of work.
  • A resident in the 400 block of Highcrest Drive reported on March 26 that a former acquaintance was harassing them. Officers spoke with the person and told her to stop all communications.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

  • Someone broke out a rear passenger window of a car parked in the 200 block of Laurel Avenue prior to 9:30 a.m. March 24.
  • Around 7:30 a.m. on March 24, a parking inspector noticed a shattered rear passenger-side window of a car parked in the 300 block of 3rd Street.
  • On March 27, broken windows were discovered on cars parked in the 100 block and the 200 block of 3rd Street.
  • Two scratches were reported on a vehicle in the 3500 block of Lake Avenue on March 30.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Gabriel N. Allen, 19, of the 100 block of Bristol Lane, Wood Dale, was arrested around 8:30 p.m. on March 22 and charged with driving under the influence of drugs, driving without a license unlawful possession of cannabis in a vehicle following a traffic stop in the 900 block of Green Bay Road. Officers reported smelling marijuana and noticing the driver appeared to be impaired before taking him into custody. He agreed to provide samples for testing and was also issued citations for running a stop sign.

Bryn A. Favekeh, 18, of the 200 block of Livingston Street, Evanston, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence of drugs following a traffic stop in the 2300 block of Glenview Road. Test results are pending. She was also issued citations for illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol, illegal transportation of an open container of cannabis and improper lane usage.

Sarah C. Blue, 44, of the 500 block of Winnetka Avenue, Winnetka, was arrested around 8:30 p.m. and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater following a traffic stop at Walnut Avenue and Ridge Road. Officers also issued her citations for improper lane usage and improper registration.

Two Glenview boys and an Evanston girl were issued citations for trespassing, unlawful possession of cannabis and possession of alcohol by a minor after they were discovered inside a school bus at Regina Dominican High School, 701 Locust Road, by an officer checking the premises around 10 p.m. on April 1. The three minors were released to their parents' custody.


WINNETKA

INCIDENTS

UNEMPLOYMENT FRAUD
A Sunset Road resident reported on March 29 that someone had used their identity to apply fraudulently for unemployment insurance benefits.

RETAIL THEFT
Someone stole about $40 worth of items from a store at 552 Lincoln Ave. between noon and 1 p.m. on March 30, police were told.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone caused an unknown amount of damage by scratching a the driver's side of a car parked in the 1000 block of Gage Street between 6 p.m. April 2 and 1:30 p.m. April 3.

IDENTITY THEFTS

  • A Westmoor Road resident reported on March 23 that someone had used their identity to gain access to their business credit card account and made more than $5,000 in unauthorized redemptions.
  • A Scott Avenue resident reported on March 31 that someone had used their identity to access their credit card account, making multiple unauthorized purchases for a loss of more than $5,000.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

A 20-year-old Glenview man was arrested around 10 p.m. on March 22 in the 1100 block of Sheridan Road and issued citations for speeding and driving with an expired registration.

A 35-year-old Waukegan man was arrested around 4:45 p.m. on March 30 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Willow Road. He was also issued a citation for driving with an overly tinted front window.
