Milwaukee man faces battery, unlawful restraint charges; 'suspicious' driver found to be making deliveries: New Trier Area Police Blotters

NEW TRIER TOWNSHIP, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Kenilworth, Northfield, Wilmette and Winnetka police departments as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state, and county prosecutors often choose to drop or reduce them. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless later proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.


GLENCOE

INCIDENTS

A Sheridan Road resident reported around 10:15 a.m. on May 13 that someone had used their credit card to make a pair of unauthorized purchases, although the card was still in possession of the victim.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Linda C. Davis-Jacobsen, 60, of the 3600 block of Indian Wells Lane, Northbrook, was arrested around 12:30 p.m. on May 17 and charged with battery following an investigation into an incident that occurred at 338 Park Ave.

Marc Trevino, 24, of the 900 block of North Beverly Lane, Arlington Heights, was arrested around 10 a.m. on May 15 in the area of Dundee Road and Julia Court and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater following an investigation into a crash. He was also issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Leicester Avenue resident reported on the morning of May 20 that someone had stolen their identity and used it to apply for fraudulent unemployment insurance benefits.

NORTHFIELD

INCIDENTS

'SUSPICIOUS' DRIVER
A Northbrook resident called police around 7:45 p.m. on May 12 to report a "suspicious" black sedan was following them on North Happ Road. Officers tracked down the driver, stopped them based on the resident's suspicion and learned that the driver was a food delivery driver making deliveries in the area.

DRIVING COMPLAINT
Police were called to the 500 block of North Happ Road around 5:30 p.m. on May 16 for a report of an argument over driving between a motorist and an area homeowner. Officers spoke with both people, who asked that police write a report about it.

IDENTITY THEFTS

  • A Woodland Lane resident reported on May 11 that someone had made unauthorized charges on their credit card.
  • A Riverside Driver resident reported on May 14 that someone had stolen their identity and used it to fraudulently apply for unemployment insurance benefits.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

A 49-year-old Northfield man was arrested around 2:30 p.m. on May 11 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the 1600 block of Willow Road. Officers also ticketed him for running a stop sign.

A 28-year-old Bloomingdale man was arrested around 11 p.m. on May 11 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop near the intersection of Willow and Wagner roads. He was also issued citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle, possession of an open container of cannabis by a driver, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

A 40-year-old Waukegan man was arrested around 10:45 p.m. on May 12 and charged with driving without a valid license following a traffic stop around the intersection of Willow and Wagner roads. He was also ticketed for having only a single headlight.

A 22-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 12:45 a.m. on May 13 and charged with driving without a valid license following a traffic stop in the area of Willow Road and Alice Place. He was also ticketed for speeding.

A 21-year-old Prospect Heights man was arrested around 3:15 a.m. on May 15 and charged with driving without a valid license following a traffic stop in the 300 block of South Happ Road.

A 37-year-old Highland Park man was issued a citation for littering after police were called to a report of a drunken man in Clarkson Park, 343 Church St., around 6:30 p.m. on May 13. Officers reported the man was seen tossing "several beer cans on the ground."

WILMETTE

INCIDENTS

VANDALISM

  • A CTA employee discovered two train cars had been spray painted with some kind of graffiti on or before May 9.
  • An officer discovered some kind of graffiti at the Recreational Center Skate Park, 3000 Glenview Road, at some point on May 10. It was not clear when the damage occurred.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Yamell Johnson, 40, of the 1300 block of South Lawndale Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 11:45 p.m. on May 9 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Skokie Boulevard. An officer reported noticing him commit several traffic violations before pulling him over. Police said Johnson smelled of booze, failed field sobriety testing and refused to provide a breath sample

Robert Wyatt, 53, of the 8800 block of Knight Avenue, Des Plaines, was arrested around 10:30 a.m. on May 12 in the 1200 block of Green Bay Road after officers investigating a traffic crash learned he had an active arrest warrant and a suspended license. Officers reported Wyatt struck two parked cars and had a warrant for failure to appear in court and a DUI charge. He was also issued a citation for improper lane usage.


WINNETKA

INCIDENTS

IDENTITY THEFT
An Oak Street resident reported on the morning of May 11 that someone had used their identity to apply for unemployment insurance benefits.

BIKE THEFT
A resident in the 1100 block of Chatfield Road reported that someone stole an unlocked bicycle that had been left unattended in the area for a loss of $800.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

A 28-year-old Wilmette woman was arrested and cited for speeding 26 mph to 34 mph above the limit following a traffic stop around 12:30 p.m. on May 12 in the 200 block of Hibbard Road.

A 19-year-old Lake Forest man was arrested around 11:30 p.m. on May 12 in the 1000 block of Sheridan Road and cited for speeding 26 mph to 34 mph above the limit.

A 55-year-old Skokie man was arrested around 4:45 p.m. on May 13 and charged with speeding 25 mph to 34 mph above the limit following a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Sheridan Road.

A 21-year-old Union, Kentucky, man was arrested around 6:45 p.m. on May 13 in the 1100 block of Sheridan Road and charged with speeding more than 35 mph over the limit and issued a citation for improper lane usage.

Keith L. Franson, 50, of the 8400 block of West Castle Island Avenue, Chicago, and John A. Benedetto, 62, of the 500 block of Cherry Street, Winnetka, were both issued local ordinance violation citations for battery around 11 a.m. on May 14 by officers investigating a reported battery taking place outside a business in the 900 block of Green Bay Road.

A 57-year-old Nashville, Tennessee, man was arrested around 1:45 p.m. on May 14 and charged with speeding 26 mph to 34 mph above the limit following a trafifc stop in the 1000 block of Sheridan Road.

A 20-year-old North Chicago man was arrested around 3:15 p.m. on May 10 and charged with driving without a valid license following a traffic stop in the 500 block of Lincoln Avenue. He was also issued a citation for driving without a license plate cover.

Carson D. Kosanovich, 20, of the 1100 block of Whitebridge Hill Road, Winnetka, was arrested on the evening of May 14 at the Winnetka Police Department in connection with an investigation into a May 10 hit-and-run traffic crash. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and issued a citation for driving in the wrong lane.

Ray Ren, 22, of the 700 block of East Ogden Avenue, Milwaukee, was arrested around 7:30 a.m. on May 16 in the 300 block of Fairview Avenue and charged with domestic battery, unlawful restraint and interfering with reporting of domestic battery following a report of a battery taking place outside a parked car in the area.
