Guest speaker Janine Gauthier PhD Director, Psychosocial Oncology and Director, Clinical Service for the Cancer
Integrative Medicine Program at Rush University Medical Center
Dr. Gauthier gave an hour-long presentation about the mind-body connection and the importance of healing the whole person (mind, body and spirit). She shared stories of how integrative medicine has become an increasingly established movement in North America, bringing together all appropriate therapies, both conventional and complementary. Mind-body practices she discussed included: biofeedback, guided imagery, hypnosis, mediation, relaxation, spirituality and yoga. She closed the event with a soothing imagery and relaxation technique that revitalized all in attendance.
All proceeds for this event and the Cook’s Tour Housewalk on September 21, 2011 benefit the Rush University Cancer Center.
