Animal, Vehicle License Renewals Due By May 1

Owners of cars and pets in Glencoe need to renew their licenses by the end of the month to avoid picking up penalty fees.

GLENCOE, IL — Time is running out to renew your vehicle and animal licenses for the year. The Village of Glencoe began mailing out renewal letters last month, but officials recently learned that some residents received inaccurate bills for licenses renewals. In some cases, the senior discounts were not properly applied, or not all vehicles owned by residents appeared in the online portal. Vehicle licenses are due May 1 to avoid a $50 late penalty.

For the first time, the mailing list was developed using data from the office of the Illinois Secretary of State. In the case of mistakes in the database – like records showing you own a vehicle you don't – residents were asked to contact the state agency and submit proof to the village. If it's your first time claiming a senior discount, you'll need to apply in person at Village Hall with proof of age.

All owners of cats or dogs over 6 months of age must buy or renew a Glencoe animal license. Information about rabies certification and vaccine expiration dates are required, although a copy of the certificate is not.
