The following information comes from the Glencoe, Kenilworth Northfield, Wilmette and Winnetka police departments as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state, and county prosecutors often choose to drop or reduce them. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless later proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS
CAR BURGLARY
Someone stole two saws from an unlocked trailer parked in the 500 block of Adams Avenue prior to 9:45 a.m. on Sept. 3.
STOLEN CHECKS
An unidentified thief learned someone got hold of several checks written by a Vernon Avenue resident and cashed them for an unspecified loss prior to the morning of Sept. 13.

IDENTITY THEFT
An Edgebrook Lane resident reported on the afternoon of Sept. 15 that someone had used their identity to apply for unemployment insurance benefits.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
De'Erin R. Hickman, 28, of the 1000 block of Darrow Avenue, Evanston, was arrested around 3 a.m. on Sept. 15 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater following an encounter with police near the intersection of Hawthorn Avenue and Sheridan Road. She was also issued citations for illegal parking and illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol by a driver.

INCIDENTS
IDENTITY THEFTS
- An Earlston Road resident reported on Sept. 1 that someone called them claiming to be from the Social Security Administration and used their personal information to gain access to financial accounts.
- A Sterling Road resident reported someone used their identity to apply for a loan from the Small Business Administration on Aug. 28.
JEWELRY THEFT
Several pieces of jewelry worth more than $500 have been stolen from a home in the 400 block of Sheridan Road between August 2019 and August 2020, police were told.
SIGN THEFTS
A thief stole 12 New Trier High School sports signs worth $720 from multiple locations in the village during the night of Sept. 13 and early morning hours of Sept. 14.
BIKE THEFT
Someone stole a bike that had been left unlocked on a rack at Joseph Sears School at 542 Abbotsford Road for a loss of $300.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Joshua Paseka, 36, of the 4100 block of North Kenmore Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 3 a.m. on Sept. 6 in the 600 block of Green Bay Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police reported pulling him over for speeding.

THREAT
On the evening of Aug. 31, a Colonial Lane resident reported receiving a threatening letter in the mail.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A Northfield Public Works staffer reported around 7 a.m. Sept. 3 that someone had written something in a portion of recently installed wet concrete.
THEFT
On Sept. 3, a child of a resident in the 7000 block of Arbor Lane reported that someone had stolen silverware and serving plates from their parent's home sometime in January.
TECH SUPPORT SCAM
A Dorina Drive resident reported that someone sent them an email on Sept. 3 to trick them into calling a fake Apple customer support phone number, where a scammer convinced the resident to turn over personal information. The following day the resident discovered someone had withdrawn money from their bank account.
IDENTITY THEFTS
- A Woodland Lane resident reported around noon on Sept. 2 that someone had used their identity to open up a fraudulent store credit card at Von Maur.
- An Old Willow Road resident reported around 2 p.m. on Sept. 8 that someone had used their identity in an attempt to apply for unemployment insurance benefits.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Kristen M. Endre, 54, of the 600 block of N. Happ Road, Northfield, was issued a citation for use of premises for consumption of an alcoholic beverage on Sept. 2 following an investigation into a report of a party at her home where she was aware of alcohol being served to minors.
Robert S. Clingan, 51, of the 500 block of Valley Way, Northfield, was arrested around 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 8 and charged with criminal trespassing and issued several citations stemming from incidents that day. Around 8 a.m., a neighbor reported he was repeatedly pounding on their door. Officers arrived and issued Clingan a citation for provoking a breach of the peace and told him not to come back. Then just after 11:30 a.m., police were told he had returned. He refused to speak to officers who attempted to contact him, police reported. About 6 hours later, police received word that Clingan was "throwing watermelon" at a squad car parked in the 500 block of Valley Way. He was then placed under arrest and issued citations for damage to public property and disobeying police.
WILMETTE
INCIDENTS
HARASSMENT
A Hartzell street resident reported that their former romantic partner was continuing to send them text messages after being asked to stop.
BIKE THEFT
Someone stole a locked bicycle from the garage of a building in the 1600 block of Sheridan Road between Aug. 23 and Sept. 2, police were told.
FRAUD
An unidentified man or boy approached a patron of the Chase Bank at 50 Skokie Blvd. as they used the ATM in the building's vestibule around 2 p.m. on Sept. 4 and coerced the person to withdraw $900 from their bank account.
TRESPASSING
A pair of squatters who identified themselves as "Neo Bey" and "Nia Bey" were found in a vacant home in the 900 block of Seneca Road around 4 p.m. on Sept. 4 by the owner and asked not to return, police were told.
BB STRIKE
Around 4:15 p.m. on Sept. 5, a dad at West Park, 3555 Lake Ave., reported that his 8-year-old son was hit by a metal pellet. There were no clues as to where it may have been fired from, and officers were not able to locate its source.
THEFTS
- Someone stole landscape equipment from an unlocked trailer in the 2100 block of Pioneer Lane between 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 31.
- A visitor to Gillson Park , 100 Lake Ave., reported that someone stole a cell phone from an unattended purse around 8 p.m. Sept. 7. A male thief spotted going through the purse ran away when its owner confronted him.
- Someone stole an unattended bike that was left unlocked at the Gillson Sailing Beach between Aug. 25 and Aug. 26, police were told on Sept. 11.
- Around 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 13, an officer found the street signs for Hunter Road and Chestnut Avenue missing from the sign pole at the corner where they intersect.
SHOPLIFTING
- On the evening of Aug. 31, police were told that someone had found a bag of merchandise that was later determined to have come from an unreported retail theft at the CVS, 1515 Sheridan Road.
- Staff at the Walgreens, 811 Green Bay Road, reported that a man wearing a U.S. Postal Service windbreaker, dark sweat pants and a black mask stole unspecified merchandise around 6 p.m. on Sept. 6 and left in a black Chevy Impala.
SIGN THEFTS
- A resident in the 600 block of Central Avenue reported that someone stole a yard sign from their front yard and left it in an alley nearby.
- Someone stole a political sign and two flags from the front yard of a home in the 1200 block of Richmond Lane between 7 and 10:15 p.m.
CAR BURGLARIES
- Someone stole unspecified items from inside an unlocked car parked in the 900 block of Cornell Street between 10:30 p.m. Sept. 5 and 7:15 a.m. on Sept. 6.
- Someone stole unspecified items from inside an unlocked car parked in the 2200 block of Lake Avenue between 10 p.m. Sept. 5 and 5 a.m. Sept. 6.
- Someone burglarized an unlocked BMW left unlocked in the 100 block of Maple Avenue between 8 p.m. Sept. 6 and 8 a.m. Sept 7. Nothing was reported stolen.
- A resident in the 400 block of Laurel Avenue reported that someone burglarized a car that was parked between an apartment, breaking a window and stealing unspecified items from within
- Someone stole unspecified items from a car left unlocked at the Walgreens, 811 Green Bay Road, between 3:30 and 3:45 p.m. on Sept. 10.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
- A resident in the 1400 block of Washington Avenue reported that someone damaged a yard sign between 3 p.m. Sept. 11 and and 1 p.m. Sept. 13.
- A resident in the 1700 block of Washington Avenue reported that someone damaged a yard sign between 8 p.m. Sept. 13 and 8 a.m. Sept. 14.
STOLEN CARS
- Someone stole a car from the 400 block of Laurel Avenue between 8:30 p.m. Sept. 8 and 2:45 a.m. Sept. 9, with its owner telling police they believed it had been locked but had a key inside. There were no signs of a break-in where the car was last parked, police reported.
- At some point between 8 p.m. Sept. 13 and 8 a.m. Sept. 14, someone got into unlocked car parked in a driveway in the 900 block of 15th Street, found a key fob for another parked car and stole it.
- Someone stole an unlocked car with the key left inside from Centennial Park, 2300 Old Glenview Road, between 10:45 and 11:05 a.m. on Sept. 15.
- Between 5 p.m. Sept. 15 and 6:30 a.m. Sept. 16, someone stole a car from a driveway in the 2000 block of Washington Avenue that had been left unlocked with a key fob inside.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Michael J. Burk, 46, of the 6300 block of North Paulina Street, Chicago, was arrested around 3 p.m. on Sept. 1 and charged with criminal damage. Police reported he removing a fire extinguisher mounted to the exterior of the BP gas station at 840 Skokie Blvd. and threw it at a window before being located nearby.
Joe N. Norman Sr., 55, of the 300 block of Ridge Road, Wilmette, was arrested around 9:15 p.m. on Sept. 1 at the Shell gas station at 399 Ridge Road after encountering an officer who recognized him as the person wanted in connection with an Aug. 26 shoplifting incident at the Walgreens, 811 Green Bay Road.
Natalya Schamoun, 38, of the 2300 block of Ranburn Drive in Gary, Indiana, was arrested around 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 3 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Police reported she was pulled over for a traffic infraction and refused to provide a breath sample.
Michael A. Dancey, 58, of the 3200 block of Greenleaf Avenue, Wilmette, was arrested around 11 p.m. on Sept. 5 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater after an police were called to a two-car crash at Hibbard Road and Green Leafe Avenue. Police reported that Dancey caused the crash when he failed to yield to another car. He was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not described as life-threatening and found to have a blood alcohol concentration of nearly two and a half times the legal limit for intoxication. He refused further testing and the female passenger in his car refused medical treatment.
Anastasiya Stefaniv, 18, of the 9200 block of Niles Center Road, Skokie, was arrested around 10 p.m. Sept. 7 following a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Lake Avenue and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Young Cho Kim, 40, of the 8300 block of Mango Avenue, Morton Grove, was arrested around 4 a.m. on Sept. 8 and charged with criminal damage to property after police got a call he had broken a window at the home of a former romantic partner in Wilmette and found him in the front yard.
Thomas Morton, 47, of the 2700 block of Lincoln Lane, Wilmette, was arrested around 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 13 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop at Locust Road and Lincoln Lane. Police reported he was determined to be impaired and refused a breath test.
WINNETKA
INCIDENTS
AMAZON SCAM
A Locust Road resident reported on the evening of Sept. 10 that they had sent a scammer a cashier's check of more than $5,000 after getting a phone call from someone claiming to be an Amazon employee who demanded money to settle a purportedly compromised account.
SHOPLIFTING
Someone stole five bottles of liquor worth nearly $200 in two incidents at the Grand Food Center, 606 Green Bay Road. The first took place at 6:06 p.m. on Sept. 9 and the second at 6:36 p.m. on Sept. 11.
CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT
Police were told that someone vandalized village signage in the 300 block of Willow Road using gray spray paint between Aug. 6 and Sept. 13, causing an unknown amount of damage.
FORGERY
Someone forged and cashed more than $5,000 worth of checks using the business account of a business in the 700 block of Elm Street between July 2 and Sept. 2.
CAR BURGLARIES
- Someone stole nearly $5,000 worth of chainsaws from an unlocked tree removal service vehicle between 10:21 and 11:15 a.m. on Aug. 31.
- Someone stole a sewer pipe camera cord worth more than $5,000 from the rear of a cargo van parked in the 500 block of Winnetka Avenue between 1:40 and 1:45 p.m. on Sept. 10.
IDENTITY THEFTS
- A Garland Road resident reported on Sept. 11 that someone had used their identity in an unsuccessful attempt to apply for business loans between Sept. 2 and Sept. 6.
- An Elder Lane resident reported that someone used their identity to open up a Verizon Wireless account and rack up more than $1,000 in unauthorized charges.
- A Ridge Avenue resident reported that someone used their identity to apply for fraudulent unemployment insurance benefits between Aug. 25 and Sept. 1.
- A Laurel Avenue resident reported they discovered on Sept. 3 that someone used their identity to apply for fraudulent unemployment insurance benefits.
- An Oak Street resident reported learning on Aug. 22 that someone had used their identity to apply for unemployment insurance benefits in Colorado.
- An Edgewood Lane resident reported that someone used their credit card to make an unauthorized $467 purchase.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Shawn Bankston, 41, of the 6800 block of South Clyde Avenue, Chicago, was issued a theft citation after officers were called to the BP gas station at 1025 Tower Road for a report of a retail theft in progress.
Pierre N. Brantley, 30, of the 10700 block of South Indiana Street, Chicago, was issued a theft citation for stealing three items of liquor worth $62.66 from the Grand Food Center, 606 Green Bay Road.
