Donor Offers $10,000 Reward For Infomation On Winnetka Home Invasion

Winnetka police provided a description and sketch of the offender.

An anonymous donor is posting a $10,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest in a home invasion in Winnetka last week.

At 11:25 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to a report of an ongoing home invasion near Sheridan Road and Scott Avenue. A woman who was a domestic worker in the home was attacked, but her injuried were not life-threatening and she was released from a hospital after treatment.

The intruder was gone by the time police arrived. The woman was attacked by the intruder and defended herself, which caused the man to flee the house on foot, said Patrick Kreis, Winnetka's interim chief of police.

Kreis would not comment on the investigation or any possible suspects Thursday morning.

"We conducted a thorough search of the area," Kreis said. A telephone notification system was also employed early Wednesday afternoon to alert residents in the area of the attack, Kreis said.

The suspect is described as white male, 6 feet tall and 25-35 years old. New information from Winnetka police indicates the man spoke with an accent that could be Serbian or Bosnian, according to police. He has a slim build and dark complexion, and was last seen wearing a light gray long-sleeved shirt with a hood, according to the release. The man may have injuries on his face and hands.

"This is a very serious matter that we are going to use all available resources to solve," Kreis said.
