E-Commerce Vs. Brick & Mortar Retailers: A LWV Conversation
Future of shopping discussed with retail real estate expert.

NORTHFIELD, IL — The League of Women Voters Winnetka-Northfield-Kenilworth announced the April guest for its monthly "Conversations 2017” gathering. The lunchtime meetings include stimulating conversations led by experts on a variety of important and evolving issues. The upcoming talk will address the question: "Is E-Commerce Killing Brick & Mortar Retail?,” the League announced.
Liz Holland, CEO of Abbell Credit Corporation and Abell Associates, will present the talk April 19 at the Happ Inn in Northfield. The 70-year-old firm is a private real estate acquisition, development and management company with a portfolio of shopping center, office, and enclosed mall properties.
Despite the pervasive narrative of e-commerce killing brick and mortar retailers, a deeper dive into demographic and Census data—not to mention the way technology is changing the consumers' shopping habits—provides a more nuanced approach, according to Holland.
