On behalf of the Glencoe Educational Foundation (GEF), the GGP is expecting another memorable day of racing. Highlights for this year: our participation in USA Cycling’s National Racing Calendar, the Illinois Cup and hosting the Illinois State Criterium Championship. Just like last year, when the Glencoe Grand Prix was the host of USA Cycling’s Professional Criterium National Championship, this race will attract the top pro cyclists from around the United States and is considered one of the top professional cycling races held in the United States each year.
The GEF was established to promote and support the education system within Glencoe and is once again sponsoring as its annual fundraiser the GGP bike race and block party now in its 5th year. This year’s edition is special in that in addition to the traditional set of amateur races, the GGP is hosting the Illinois State Criterium Championship for the first time.
As in previous years, the City of Glencoe shuts down for this event. The races are held on the city streets beginning Saturday morning at 7:15 and concluding with the AT&T men’s professional race at 6:00 PM.
