NEW TRIER TOWNSHIP, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Kenilworth, Northfield, Wilmette and Winnetka police departments as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state, and county prosecutors often choose to drop or reduce them. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless later proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
GLENCOE
INCIDENTS
PHONE SCAM
Someone scammed a Crescent Avenue resident out of $1,750 by convincing them to buy gift cards. The scammer called the resident on the phone and convinced them that their PayPal account had been compromised.
THEFT
Someone stole a Jackson Avenue street sign from the intersection of Jackson Avenue and Randolph Street, an officer noticed around 10:15 a.m. on June 24.

UNEMPLOYMENT FRAUD
Someone used the identity of a Country Lane resident to file for unemployment insurance benefits.
TELEPHONE HARASSMENT
A Julia Court resident reported on June 27 that they had received several unwanted phone calls from a person known to them but did not wish to press charges.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Glade Road resident reported on June 28 that someone used their identity to open a cell phone account in August 2019.
ARRESTS
A 24-year-old Elgin man was arrested around 1:30 a.m. on June 25 following a traffic stop near the intersection of Dundee Road and Pebblewood Lane and charged with driving with a suspended license. He was also issued citations for possession of under 10 grams of cannabis, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and not having a rear license plate light.
KENILWORTH
INCIDENTS/ARRESTS
The Kenilworth Police Department did not report any incidents or arrests between June 18 and June 25.
NORTHFIELD
INCIDENTS
5 STOLEN CARS
Staff at Fields BMW, 700 W. Frontage Road, reported around 6:15 a.m. on June 21 that someone had burglarized the dealership and stolen five vehicles from the service area.
IDENTITY THEFT
An Arbor Lane resident reported on the afternoon of June 21 that someone claiming to be an employee of the Illinois Secretary of State's Office asked for personal and banking information over the phone.
MISSING BRANCHES
A resident in the 300 block of Linder Avenue called police on the evening of June 21 to report that someone had cut several branches off of a rose bush in their yard. Additional branches were reported cut on the evening of June 23.
UNWANTED PATIENT
Police were called to an unspecified dental office in the 300 block of W. Frontage Road around 3:15 p.m. on June 24 for a report that a patient showed up without an appointment, demanded to see a dentist and got angry when the staff threw them out. Employees told police they didn't want the patient to return, and police suggested they talk to their lawyer.
UNEMPLOYMENT FRAUD
An Old Willow Road resident reported on June 25 that someone had used their stolen identity to apply fraudulently for state unemployment insurance benefits.
ARRRESTS/CITATIONS
An unidentified resident in the 1600 block of Harding Road reported that their neighbor's dog bit them. The dog's owner was cited for dog bit, first offense, and issued a $100 fine.

INCIDENTS
UNEMPLOYMENT FRAUD
Three village residents reported their identities had been used to file fraudulently for state unemployment insurance benefits.
HOME BURGLARY
Someone burglarized a house in the 1600 block of Forest Avenue on or before June 23, stealing personal items of unspecified value.
SHOPLIFTING
After a review of security video, staff at the Walgreens, 811 Green Bay Road, reported two instances of shoplifting that occurred on June 23. In the first instance, a shoplifter described as a 20- to 30-year-old, 5-foot, 10-inch white man who weighed 185 pounds and was wearing a white, short-sleeved button up shirt, baggy jeans and a black face mask stole unspecified items around 1 p.m. In the second incident, three people stole unspecified items at 7:20 p.m. One was described as a 20-30 years old, 6 feet and 2 or 3 inches, and white, wearing a black hat, black mask, gray zip-up hooded sweatshirt, red undershirt and black pants. He was accompanied by a 25- to 35-year-old woman wearing a white mask, sunglasses and black dress and a man in his 20s wearing a black mask, blue long-sleeved shirt and black shorts. Police did not specify what was stolen or its value.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
- An officer discovered on June 20 that someone had caused some kind of damage to a utility box in the parkway at the intersection of 10th Street and Chestnut Avenue.
- Someone damaged a vehicle in the 1200 block of Chestnut Avenue, police were told on June 23.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
A 27-year-old Zion man was arrested around 9:30 a.m. on June 18 after an officer investigating a traffic crash with property damage learned that one of the drivers involved had a revoked driver's license.
Dave L. Liu, 41, of the 1100 block of Romona Road, Wilmette, was arrested shortly after 1 a.m. on June 24 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater after officers pulled him over for a minor traffic offense near the intersection of Illinois and Iroquois roads. Officers determined he was impaired, and he provided a breath sample indicating he was over the legal limit for intoxication. Liu was also ticketed for improper lane usage.
WINNETKA
INCIDENTS
IDENTITY THEFT
An Orchard Lane resident reported on the afternoon of June 21 that someone had used their identity to open up an unauthorized credit card at Home Depot, which was used to make multiple purchases.
THEFT
Someone stole an unattended cell phone, along with its case, various cards and cash from the 1100 block of Chatfield Road between 12:30 and 3 p.m. on June 15, police were told the following week.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
John Daniel Hansen, 68, of the 1400 block of Scott Avenue, Winnetka, was arrested around 7:30 p.m. on June 26 and charged with domestic battery following an investigation into a report of a battery at his home.
