Glencoe Has Had 2 Parks Directors in Last 85 Years
With Rick Bold's retirement, Glencoe Parks District will fill a slot that hasn't been open since 1978. Last opening prior to that was 1930.

Longevity in the sports world is defined by great franchises. The Pittsburgh Steelers, for instance, have only employed three people as their head coach since 1969.
But that pales in comparison to the job security locally at the Glencoe Park District. According to the Daily North Shore, Rick Bold is retiring as Director of Parks and Maintenance this year after 37 years on the job. Bold’s predecessor had 48 years at the position, so only two people have held the opening since the start of the Great Depression.
“Glencoe is a really nice community,” Bold told the DNS. “The people are really nice and I developed a lot of great friendships.”

Since 1978, Bold has been a part of teams that have renovated nearly every park in the village. He has overseen the grounds, parks, landscaping, athletic fields, beaches – any outdoor feature owned by the District.
