GLENCOE

INCIDENTS

BIKE THEFT
Someone style a bicycle from a rack in the 1000 block of Forestway Drive at some point prior to about 10 a.m. Oct. 28. Police did not specify if it was locked.

  • Someone used the identity of a Madison Avenue resident to fraudulently file for unemployment insurance benefits, police were told on Oct. 28.
  • On Oct. 29, police were told someone used the identity of a Washington Avenue resident to file for unemployment insurance benefits.
  • A scammer posing as an IRS representative deceived a Jackson Avenue resident, convincing them to provide personal identifying information.
  • A Greenwood Road resident reported around 10 a.m. on Nov. 2 that someone used their identity to file for unemployment insurance benefits.
  • Someone used the identity of a Jefferson Avenue resident to charge several thousands of dollars on a Menards card that the resident had recently opened, police were told on Nov. 2.
  • On Nov. 2, residents of Old Elm Lane and Sheridan Road reported someone used their identity to fraudulently apply for unemployment insurance benefits.
  • On Nov. 3, a Linden Avenue resident reported someone had written fraudulent checks against their account.
  • Residents of Glencoe Drive and Old Elm Lane reported on Nov. 3 that someone had used their identity to fraudulently apply for unemployment insurance benefits.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Jacalyn M. Walters, 22, of the 600 block of Ivy Court, Round Lake Beach, was arrested around 2:30 p.m. Oct. 31 in the first block of Green Bay Road and charged with possession of a controlled substance, resisting police, driving under the influence of drugs and driving with a suspended license. She was also cited for unlawful use of cannabis, driving without insurance, speeding and texting while driving.

INCIDENTS/ARRESTS

CAR BURGLARIES
Two unlocked cars parked in the 600 block of Roger Avenue were burglarized between midnight and 7:45 a.m. on Oct. 31. A pair of sunglasses worth $200 was stolen from one of them, while nothing of value was reported stolen from the other.

IDENTITY THEFTS

  • A Brier Street resident reported on Oct. 21 that someone had used their identity to fraudulently apply for a small business loan.
  • On Oct. 27, a Robsart Place resident reported that someone had used their identity to apply for fraudulent unemployment insurance benefits.
  • A Cumberland Avenue resident reported on Oct. 28 that someone had used their identity to apply for fraudulent unemployment insurance benefits.
  • On Oct. 29, an Oxford Road resident reported that someone had used their identity in an attempt at unemployment insurance benefits.
  • An Exmoor Road resident reported at noon on Oct. 30 that someone had used their identity to try to fraudulently obtain unemployment insurance benefits.
  • On Nov. 2, a Park Drive resident reported someone used their identity in a fraudulent attempt at unemployment insurance benefits.

NORTHFIELD

INCIDENTS

HOME BURGLARY
Police were called to the 200 block of Riverside Drive around 12:15 p.m. Oct. 26 for a reported home burglary. No further detail were provided.

IDENTITY THEFTS
Three employees of Sunset Ridge School District 29, 525 Sunset Ridge Road, reported between Oct. 26 and Oct. 29 that someone had used their identities to attempt to file for unemployment insurance benefits.

DOG FIGHT
Police were called to a home in the 200 block of Avon Avenue around 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 26 for a report that two neighbors were having an argument about each other's dogs. An officer spoke with the neighbors, who reportedly agreed not to walk their dogs in front of each other's homes.

LANDSCAPING DISPUTE
An officer was called to the first block of Longmeadow Road around 9 a.m. Oct. 27 for a report of a dispute between a homeowner and landscape contractor that was resolved without further incident.

SIGN THEFTS

  • On Oct. 29, a resident of the 200 block of Latrobe Avenue reported someone stole a political sign from their front yard during the prior night.
  • A resident in Lagoon Drive reported on Oct. 30 that someone stole a political sign from their front yard during the previous night.

ARRESTS

A 25-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 3 p.m. Oct. 29 and charged with driving with a suspended driver's license following a traffic stop near Willow Road and Eaton Street. He was also issued citations for speeding and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

A 44-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 4 p.m. Oct. 30 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop at Willow Road and Bracken Lane. He was also cited for speeding.


WILMETTE

INCIDENTS

BIKE THEFT
A resident in the 700 block of Laurel Avenue reported around 1 p.m. on Oct. 25 that someone stole a pair of bicycles from their back yard.

STOLEN UNLOCKED CAR/GUN CRIME
Around 1:30 a.m. Oct. 26, an officer followed two vehicles onto the Edens Expressway headed south. Both pulled onto the shoulder. As the officer got closer, four people got out of one of the cars, got into the second one and sped away. The officer was unable to stop the fleeing vehicle, but the car they left behind turned out to have been recently taken from the 1700 block of Highland Avenue but not reported stolen yet. The Highland Avenue resident told police one of his key fobs was missing. Police did not specify if the car was left unlocked with the keys inside. Officers discovered a .45 caliber pistol with an extended magazine in the Wilmette resident's stolen car after it was abandoned.

SHOPLIFTING
Police were called to the Jewel-Osco, 1517 Sheridan Road, around 3:30 p.m. Oct. 26 for a report of a shoplifting that had just taken place. The suspects, described as a man and woman in their 30s, were last seen leaving the area in a gray Hyundai.

IDENTITY THEFTS

On Oct. 28, residents of Forest, Maple and Linden avenues reported that someone used their identities in an attempt to apply for fraudulent unemployment insurance benefits.

SIGN THEFT
A resident in the 1000 block of Hibbard Road reported on Oct. 28 that someone stole two political signs from their front lawn.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

  • Someone caused an unspecified amount of damage to a car in the 2200 block of Lake Avenue prior to 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 23, police were told.
  • On Oct. 27, police were told someone spray painted at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Crescent Place.
  • A resident in the 400 block of Eighth Street reported on Oct. 27 that someone tagged their car with spray paint.

CAR BURGLARIES

  • A resident in the 400 block of 15th Street reported around 8:15 a.m. on Oct. 23 that someone had burglarized two of their unlocked cars, but nothing was reported stolen.
  • Around 11 a.m. Oct. 25, a resident in the 1600 block of Highland Avenue reported someone stole unspecified personal items from their unlocked car.
  • Someone burglarized an unlocked car in the 600 block of Prairie Avenue around 1 p.m. Oct. 25, stealing unspecified personal items from within.
  • A resident in the first block of Crescent Place reported on Oct. 27 that someone entered their unlocked car, stole unspecified personal items and tagged it and another of their cars with spray paint.
  • On Oct. 27, an officer discovered another car in the first block of Crescent Place was defaced with spray paint and unspecified personal items were stolen from within, its owner confirmed.
  • A resident in the 600 block of Maple Avenue reported on Oct. 27 that someone entered their unlocked car and stole unspecified personal items.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

John M. Power, 58, of the 700 block of Nuthatch Court, St. Charles, was arrested after a victim of a hit-and-run accident followed the other car into Glenview until it was stopped by Glenview police near Willow and Pfinsten roads. Police reported Power appeared to be intoxicated and refused to perform field sobriety tests. He was charged with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of a crash. Police also cited him for improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed.

A boy under the age of 18 was arrested around 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 26 at the Wilmette Police Department in connection with car thefts and burglaries in Wilmette, Evanston and Skokie. Police reported he will be petitioned delinquent in juvenile court on charges of stealing a Honda minivan from a driveway in the 200 block of Lawndale Avenue between 1 and 8 a.m. on Aug. 15. The van had been left unlocked with the keys inside.

WINNETKA

INCIDENTS

SHOPLIFTING
Someone stole several bottles of alcohol worth more than $150 from the Walgreens at 925 Green Bay Road between about 6 and 7 p.m. Oct. 26.

HOME BURGLARY/STOLEN CARS
A resident in the 500 block of Oak Street reported that someone had gotten into their garage via a garage door opener left in an unlocked car. One car was stolen from the driveway and one was stolen from inside the garage at some point between 4 p.m. Oct. 28 and 2:45 a.m. Oct. 29.

HOME BURGLARIES

  • Someone broke into a home in the 200 block of Hibbard Road through a side door between 5 and 6:20 p.m. on Oct. 30. Nothing was listed as stolen at the time of the report.
  • A resident in the 700 block of Walden Road reported that someone got into their garage between 11 p.m. Oct. 31 and 11 p.m. Nov. 1 and rummaged through a car that was parked inside. Nothing was reported stolen.

STOLEN CARS

  • A resident in the 500 block of Arbor Vitae Road reported around 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 29 that someone had stolen an car from their driveway after it was left unlocked with a key inside.
  • Someone stole an unlocked car from the 900 block of Pine Tree Lane between 6 p.m. Oct. 29 and 6 a.m. Oct. 30 after it was left unlocked with the keys inside. Police said the car was later found at an unspecified location outside the village.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

  • A Winnetka Park District employee reported around noon on Oct. 29 that someone had damaged three windows at the Maple Street Beach House with an unknown object, causing $2,000 in repairs.
  • Someone caused $50 worth of damage to a window in the first block of Green Bay Road between 8 a.m. Oct. 29 and 9:40 a.m. Oct. 30.

CAR BURGLARIES

  • Someone rummaged through an unlocked parked car in the 500 block of Sheridan Road between 8 p.m. Oct. 28 and 3 a.m. Oct. 29.
  • Someone stole a garage door opener from an unlocked parked car in the 200 block of Locust Road between 6 p.m. Oct. 29 and 11 a.m. Oct. 30 for a $20 loss.

IDENTITY THEFTS

  • Someone used their identity of a Church Road resident to apply for and obtain a small business loan worth nearly $5,000.
  • On Oct. 28, residents of Asbury Avenue, Spruce Street and Whitebridge Hill Road all reported they discovered that 10 days earlier someone had used their identities in an attempt to apply for unemployment insurance benefits.
  • Residents of Elm Street, Sheridan Road and Garland and Scott avenues reported on Oct. 29 that someone had used their identities to file for unemployment insurance benefits.
  • On Oct. 30 and Oct. 31, residents of Fuller Lane, Indian Hill Road, Pine Street and Hoyt Lane reported having discovered false unemployment insurance claims in their name.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

A 45-year-old Waukegan man was arrested around 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 27 and charged with driving without a license and cited for improper backing following an investigation into a traffic crash near Walden and Westmoor roads in which he was involved.
