Halloween 2019 Activities In The New Trier Area
Find local trick-or-treating hours and Halloween weekend events.
Halloween weekend is here, which means plenty of eerie activities for local families to take part in all the way through Thursday, Oct. 31. Take a look at a quick rundown of some family-friendly Halloween activities planned in New Trier Township — or add your local event to the Winnetka-Glencoe or Wilmette-Kenilworth Patch calendars for free.
Halloween Party
The Winnetka Youth Organization is hosting its annual free Halloween party from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at 620 Lincoln Ave. with a live DJ, free food, games and a costume contest. No RSVP needed, but masked attendees must show their faces at the door.
Halloween Story Time
The Wilmette Public Library is hosting events for ages 3 and up with fall-themed stories and "songs that are more spooky" from 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Saturday Oct. 26 and from 6:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30, in the youth program room. Attendees are encouraged to come in costume.

Linden Square Fall Fest and Pumpkin Walk
Kids are encouraged to come in costume for trick-or-treating and activities at local business from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, around the corner of Linden Avenue and 4th Street in Wilmette for this free event hosted by the Wilmette/Kenilworth Chamber of Commerce and Linden Square merchants.
Boo Bash
The Glencoe Park District is hosting a family-friendly Halloween party from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the Takiff Center, 999 Green Bay Road. Attendees are asked to wear a costume and bring their own bags for trick-or-treating. The event will feature crafts, games, entertainment and pizza. Registration is available online and all children must accompanied by a ticketed adult.

Halloween Trick-or-Treat Hours
- In Glencoe, trick-or-treating runs from 4 to 8 p.m.
- In Kenilworth, trick-or-treat hours extend from the end of school until dusk.
- In Wilmette, trick-or-treat hours are from 4 to 8 p.m.
- In Winnetka, trick-or-treating runs from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Halloween Candy Collection for the Troops
Extra candy from the holiday can be donated to the Great Lakes USO at the North Suburban YMCA at 2705 Techny Road anytime during regular hours from Nov. 1 to Nov. 8.
Halloween Party

Pumpkin Smash
On Sunday, Nov. 2, bring your old pumpkins — free of any candles or other decorations — to Glencoe Community Garden, 385 Old Green Bay Road, from 10 a.m. for a chance to smash them for composting. Those unable to attend can drop off pumpkins for disposal in a Dumpster outside the garden's south gate starting the day after Halloween. Contact organizers for more details.
