Dear Editor,
I am writing to encourage Winnetka voters to support Jennifer Spinney in the upcoming election for Village Council. A long time village resident, she has been active in numerous community organizations and for the past two years she has served well on the Village Council. She has gained valuable experience in all village departments as well as experience in Springfield representing the interests of our village. I am confident that if reelected she will continue to be a productive and effective member of the Council.

I have lived in this village for many years and am a supporter of both the caucus system and the freedom and advantages of having choices. This campaign by Richard Kates to have Jennifer removed from the ballet benefits no one but him. Any Winnetka resident who understands our community, values choice and welcomes honest debate should cringe at the thought that this local issue, settled by the local election board and the Illinois Circuit Court, could be headed, thanks to Mr. Kates, as far as the Illinois Supreme Court. This, he claims, due to principle? I believe this is nothing more than an effort on his part to get Jennifer off of the ballot so that there will be three people on the ballot for three slots. These actions, in my view, reflect a style and character that has no place on the Winnetka Village Council.
Jennifer has earned my respect through hard work and high integrity and she will get my vote. I encourage all Winnetka voters to give her theirs also.
