Letter to the Editor: Support Linda Pedian for Winnetka Village Trustee

I support Linda Pedian for Village Trustee.  Linda has proven herself to be an excellent trustee over the past two years.  As someone who attends and/or watches Council meetings and study sessions, I know that Linda cares passionately about our Village and the work of the Council.  She is always prepared, works hard and is professional.  Importantly, she listens to everybody and to all sides.  She keeps an open mind.

Appropriately for a Village Trustee and contrary to allegations, Linda has not taken a position on the upcoming Village Council issue of Affordable Housing.  The claim that there's no doubt where Linda stands on the issue because of her participation on a committee or organization is just plain wrong, just like it would be unfair to claim that Candidate Spinney necessarily supports the proposed Affordable Housing Plan because she and her husband donated money to the Interfaith Housing Center last year.  I am quite confident that Linda will consider this issue in the same manner she considered the Streetscape issue.  She will listen to all sides of the issue and to the public, and she will make a well-reasoned, thoughtful decision when and if the issue comes to the Village Council.

More importantly, the Village Council race is not about one issue or any issue.  Rather, it is about the whole Village and who can transmit it "greater and more beautiful than it was transmitted to [him/her]."  Linda has all the qualities and experience for an ideal Village Trustee.
