Metra Train Strikes, Kills Winnetka Woman
An outbound train running express through the station struck and killed a woman on the tracks.

WINNETKA, IL — A person was fatally struck by a Metra train in Winnetka Wednesday evening. Around 7:12 p.m., an outbound train on the Union Pacific North Line running express between Wilmette and Winnetka struck a pedestrian at the Indian Hill station, according to a Metra spokesperson.
The Winnetka Fire Department confirmed the fatality on the scene, and the Winnetka Police Department assisted with the Metra police investigation.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the woman who died as Katherine Radler, 50, of Winnetka. As of July 1, the cause and manner of death remained pending.

One inbound and one outbound train were cancelled, and trains were progressing with extensive delays in both directions Wednesday night.

Shortly before 10 p.m. Metra announced the train that collided with the pedestrian was cleared to leave the scene. It was set to run express to Waukegan before making all stops to Kenosha.
