Multiple Car Break-Ins Reported Monday May Be Related
Winnetka police are investigating break-ins that occurred in the village Monday night.
A cluster of car break-ins that occurred Monday night in Winnetka may be related, according to police.
In all of the cases, car windows were broken or damaged and the victims also reported stolen purses.
Two car burglaries were reported in the upper parking lot of the on Green Bay Road. In an email to families Tuesday, Director Clark Carruth said the targeted cars contained purses or bags that were visible from the outside. The break-ins at the occurred sometime between 4:30 p.m.-8 p.m, according to reports from the Winnetka police.

"For the Winnetka campus, I would say [this is] extremely unusual," said Mark George, CEO and president of the Music Institute of Chicago. Those parked at the campus were attending regularly scheduled classes or lessons, George said.
Police were on the scene Monday evening and continued the investigation on campus Tuesday, George said. At the time of publication, police were investigating a possible third incident at the Music Institute of Chicago but could not confirm whether it was a break-in or if it was related to the other incidents, said Patrick Kreis, deputy chief of Winnetka Police.

Another car break-in was reported in the shopping center parking lot near the between 5:30 p.m.-6 p.m.
A fourth car burglary occurred in the parking lot around 2 p.m.
