Some state lawmakers are proposing to freeze property taxes for owners whose homes become less valuable, a move that has some New Trier High School Township District 203 officials worried, Chicago Tribune reported.
In December the district raised its taxes by about $2.9 million, if the district is unable to raise the levy, the amount it could ask for would be frozen, meaning an annual loss of $2.9 million, according to Associate Superintendent Don Goers, Chicago Tribune reported.
